Yesterday was a good reintroduction to the skies with three cruisy top-to-bottom flights before the weather conspired against us.
Today was a different kettle of fish altogether. Although the day started in top-to-bottom style at le Chabre, we had better ambitions. Second flight of the day was meant to be a little longer but itself turned into a 10 minute sled ride. The 3rd flight of the day should have been a spectacular soaring flight along the ridge at le Chabre, but I took off with a compression knot in my lines and bottled out, landing down in the normal place 10 minutes later.
But all of this was made up for by the final flight today where the thermals came on, played joyfully with the dynamic lift from the breeze creating a veritable playground of windy goodness. Though I didn't make enough height for a modest cross country flight, I enjoyed a fabulous 40 or so minute flight through some weak but fun thermals and cruised to a nice soft landing.
Very much looking forward to tomorrow now. There's definitely some cross country on the cards this week.
