Powdah!
Posted: 21 March 2010 @ 16:38 UT from Seattle, US

I’m a newbie to riding in Europe, having learned to snowboard in Canada and spent most of my time riding mud and rocks in Australia and NZ. But since moving back to the UK, I’ve become a fan of snowboarding in Europe. This winter was epic, and the trips we’ve made have always rewarded us with powder mayhem. On our last trip we met up with Ian Gorton and chums. What follows is a condensed version of a week of powder and general mayhem. Enjoy.

Oh... I wish the season wasn't almost done. I could so handle another week of boarding. Let me know when you're off next year!

Hey Chris,

I'm thinking of organising ThoughtBoarder UK next season. Quite a few folks have lamented the lack of snowy fun time.

Fuuunnn!!! Jealous!!! Ok... finishing that ? book this weekend and off to Whistler next one!

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun :-)

I am coming over next year!!!

Hay ya a bit cheeky lumping NZ in with the aussies with you're comment of mud & rocks :)

did you come to the south island?

what about queenstown, Mt Hutt, and the other fields around canterbury?

Think you where looking for a comment like is one wasn't ya? :)

Dave,

I love riding in NZ, and I've ridden there for 5 out of the 6 last seasons. The area around Queenstown and Wanaka are stunning, and some of the hills have awesome terrain (even if they could do with a few decent lifts).

But there have been seasons where I've ridden mud and rocks at treble cone and concrete peak. 3 or 4 seasons ago it was particularly sucky, and yet over in Aus, it was ok strangely.

I'll be in Wanaka again this year for a week of shredding carnage. Say "hello" if you're around TC in mid-late July.

Jim
